Location Highlights

Miho-no-Matsubara in Shizuoka Prefecture is considered one of the three new scenic spots in Japan and designated as an official beauty spot. In 2013, the site was registered as a constituent property of a World Heritage named “Mt. Fuji: Object of Worship, Wellspring of Art.” The Ise Shrine in Mie Prefecture is the headquarters of the Association of Shinto Shrine and visited by many worshippers from across the country. You should note that since it is a sacred place, those with excessively revealing clothing may not be allowed to enter the premise.

The JR Central Towers


The Nagoya Castle in Nagoya City is considered one of the three major castles in Japan. And the golden dolphins atop the keep are a familiar symbol of the city. The JR Central Towers are an annex to the Nagoya Station. Those towers are even viewable from the Gifu Castle in Gifu Prefecture and Mt. Gozaishodake in Mie Prefecture when the weather permits, and popular as one of the landmark sites in the area.

Nagashima Spa Land


Nagashima Spa Land is a major amusement park located in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture. In the premise are the world’s longest roller coaster which runs for three kilometers as well as many attractions. The park also has one of the world’s biggest outdoor seawater pools, which only operates during summer, along with many pools and water sliders. Nabana-no-sato is a botanical garden in the park and lighting up events are held in a certain period of the year. There are also inns, hot springs and shopping malls in Spa Land, making it an extensive entertainment facility which requires more than one day to go and experience all.


Shopping & Gourmet

Many department stores and shopping malls such as Sakaechika, Sunshine Sakae and Oasis 21 are located in a district called Sakae in Nagoya City, allowing you to enjoy shopping to your heart’s content. When it comes to foods in the Tokai region, “Nagoya-meshi” is well known. The dishes are mostly characterized with their strong taste as represented by Haccho-miso, one of the delicacies in the area. Famous dishes of Nagoya-meshi include Miso-Katsu, pork cutlets covered in sweet and hot akamiso bean paste. “Hitsumabushi” is a bed of rice covered with flakes of grilled eel. You can change the taste halfway by adding a soup stock to it. “Tebasaki” is a fried chicken wing dipped in a salty-sweet sauce and finished with spicy pepper.

Nagoya Nogakudo


SCMAGLEV and Railway Park in Nagoya City exhibits real items to showcase railway technologies from steam locomotives to Shinkansen bullet trains and latest maglev trains. Nagoya Nogakudo is a Noh theater opened in 1997. It is a place where you can enjoy a Japanese traditional performing art. An exhibition room is annexed so that people can learn about the art of Noh and Kyogen.
